Tessa Thompson

The actor Tessa Lynn Thompson was born on October 3, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. She is a daughter of Marc Anthony Thompson (a singer/songwriter) and granddaughter Bobby Ramos, an actor/musician. She grew up at Los Angeles, before she was moved to Brooklyn. Her father has Afro-Panamanian heritage and her mother from Mexican and British Isles heritage. Thompson was a student at Santa Monica High School, which she appeared in several theatre productions. She was enrolled in Santa Monica College after graduation with a cultural and anthropology degree. The role she played was Juliet was the title character of William Shakespeare's play "Romeo as well as Juliet" at the Pasadena California production at the Boston Court Theatre.
