Mary Eileen McDonnell, born on April 28, 1952, in the US, is a stage and film actress. She received the Academy Award nomination for her role as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is well-known for her role as President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica, the President's wife in Independence Day and for her leading performance in Donnie Darko, as the main protagonist's mother.
